An eggcellent haul: Main Street Elberton to host annual egg hunt

Main Street Elberton is slated to host one of their biggest events of the year, as the Easter Eggstravaganza will hit Elberton April 2.The event is slated to see a change this year as it moves from the downtown square to just down the road at Sutton Park.

City of Elberton Easter Eggstravaganza details announced

The City of Elberton will hold an Easter egg hunt called “Easter Eggstravaganza” on Thursday, April 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The actual egg hunt will begin at Sutton Park at 6:15 p.m. before participants are encouraged to head to the downtown square.

Elberton Lions Club hosting annual 5K

The Elberton Lions Club will have its 23rd annual 5K run/walk on April 25 starting at 8 a.m. The start/finish will be at Elbert County Comprehensive High School. Race day registration and packet pickup will begin there at 7 a.m. The 5K is the Elberton Lions Club’s primary fundraiser for the year.

"Health Meets Hope" 5K scheduled for Sunday

Friends of Advantage Behavioral Health Systems is scheduled to host the  Health Meets Hope 5K run and walk Sunday at McWilliams Park. The event is scheduled to be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is being held to raise awareness for mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Elbert County School District announced Monday that school will not be in session to give students, teachers and parents the opportunity to attend the GHSA Class A Division 1 State Championship game, which pits Elbert County's Lady Devils against the East Laurens Lady Falcons.

Elbert County's races are set for the board of commissioners and board of education seats in the May 19 general primary. For the Elbert County Board of Commissioners District 2 seat, incumbent Casey Freeman (R) qualified alongside challengers Nick Etheridge (R) and Mark Harper (R).

Keep Elbert County Beautiful (KECB) is slated for a busy March as they are holding tire amnesty events and a recycling event over the course of the month. The recycling event is scheduled for March 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bowman Recycling Center at 22. N. Segars St.
