Recycling event planned Saturday

Keep Elbert County Beautiful (KECB) is hosting a recycling event Saturday June 2 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Elberton Recycling Center on 209 Martin Luther King Blvd.

Items accepted to be recycled include batteries, car batteries, rechargeable batteries and disposable batteries of all sizes.

Electronics such as microwaves, radios, fans, printers, appliances and water heaters.

Automobile tires can be recycled at the event for $3 per tire. Tractor and larger truck tires can be recycled for $5 per tire.

There is no limit on the number of tires but tires will not be accepted from commercial sources.

Television sets and computer monitors will require a $2 fee for each unit. No paint, chemicals or construction materials will be accepted at this time.

Regularly accepted items include aluminum cans, cardboard, glass, metal, magazines, office paper and plastics 1 and 2.
