Library’s ‘Rocking Summer’ programs will be continuing

The Elbert County Public Library’s “Rocking Summer” continues this week with B-Rad, the Kid’s Magician who will be entertaining the entire family with comedy, magic and illusions.

The show will start at 10:30 a.m., and based on previous visits he will be a hit for everyone to enjoy.

Shows through the rest of the “Rocking Summer” include:

• Rocking Granny on Friday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. Anne Grace returns to the Elbert County Library as Rockin’ Granny. Anne is an exceptional children’s storyteller and performer as well as former director of the Elbert County Public Library.   

• Pete the Cat Stories with Carol Stanley on Friday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m.  The coolest book character ever, Pete the Cat, will be featured in stories by Athens Tech Librarian Carol Stanley.

• Water World returns on Friday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. Join in as the summer gets closed out.

Splash around in the parking lot on a giant water slide, dunking booth and fire hoses provided by the Elberton Fire Department.

Be sure to wear your swimsuit or cutoffs and bring a towel! Everybody is going to get wet.

In addition to the shows on Fridays, the library has age-specific events on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays running through July 20 (except for July 4 week):

• Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. is Investigation Station, third graders and up invited to participate in a hands-on activities, crafts, experiments and games.

• Tuesdays from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. is Toddler Time in which infants to preschoolers and their caregivers are welcome to come read, dance, sing and do simple crafts with Miss Rene.

• Thursdays from 3 until 4 p.m. is LegoPalooza in which all ages are invited to build whatever they can imagine with the library’s thousands of Lego bricks.

The library will also have a very special program on Monday, July 9 – Cardboard Fort Construction Day. In the 11 a.m. program you will be invited to put on your hard hats and tool belts and join everyone in the yard as the group builds a giant cardboard fort.

These events are all free and open to the public.
