The Elbert Memorial Hospital Authority has asked the county commission to levy a three mill tax to pay for indigent care. How do you feel about that? Fri, 07/28/2017 - 9:34am Editor Choices I'm disappointed. Elbert County simply can't afford to pay to keep a hospital open. I want to keep the hospital open, but three mills is too much. I would be disappointed if we didn't step up and share the burden of taking care of our own. The law allows Elbert County to levy seven mills for indigent care - three mills is a bargain.
