The Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) FFA Second Annual Spring Plant Sale will last through this Saturday every day from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the ECCHS Greenhouse located at 600 Abernathy Circle.
With almost 40 varieties of plants for sale — including summer vegetables such as different varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers and squash to flowers such as impatiens, petunias, begonias and a variety of hanging baskets — prices vary from $2 per 6 pack up to $30 per flat.
According to agriculture teacher Jordan Collins, this is the plant sale’s second year, but she has intentions to continue the plant sale every year.
Collins said the students involved in the General Horticulture class, which is part of the ECCHS’s Agriculture Pathway, planted the vegetable plants from seed packets and learned about the propagation process, germination, water and sun requirements before transplanting the plants into larger pots.
Collins also commented that the funds made from the plant sale will go back into the horticulture program to purchase more plants for future classes.
