'Reading Every Day' rally held at elementary school

Elbert County Elementary School (ECES) kicked off its new reading campaign “Read Every Day” (RED) with its first ever Reading Rally on Friday.

Blue Devil cheerleaders, football players, band and color guard members and “Dante” were all a part of the Reading Rally to cheer on the elementary students as they begin the new program.

According to ECES Media Specialist Kathy Wood, RED folders were created and passed out Friday following the rally. Wood also said that students will read and test on books using a program called ReadNQuiz. Students will work towards earning reading certifications and earning point goals and incentives will be earned as each certification and point goal is met.

“In addition to our RED campaign, alternatives will be in place this year to motivate reading everyday and foster relationships with teachers, “ said Wood.
