Bell says enrollment is up in Elbert County School System
Enrollment at the Elbert County School System has increased by 84 students in the past year.
Elbert County Schools Superintendent Chuck Bell provided a report of enrollment for the 2019 school year at the Aug. 12 BOE work session.
There are currently 3,131 students enrolled in the Elbert County School System. According to October 2018 enrollment reports from the Georgia Department of Education, the enrollment for the school district was just 3,047.
However, Bell said student attendance so far is around “25-30 short per school.” He then provided a breakdown of enrolled students versus reporting students per school.
Elbert County Primary School has 500 enrolled students with 478 reporting so far.
Elbert County Elementary School has 654 enrolled students with 620 reporting.
Elbert County Middle School has 977 enrolled students with 962 reporting as of Monday.
Elbert County Comprehensive High School has 830 enrolled students with 815 reporting so far.
The Paul J. Blackwell Learning Center has 170 enrolled students with 157 reporting.
Overall, Bell said it has been a “very successful opening to the school year,” with principals from each school agreeing.
ECMS principal Sandee Drake and ECCHS principal Jason Kouns both gave credit to the high participation at last Monday’s Open House as an indicator of a smooth start to the year.
