Bowman mother charged with vehicular homicide

A Bowman woman was charged last week with vehicular homicide in the first degree in the death of her son.

Teresa Bryant Wade, 42, of 130 West Church St. in Bowman was arrested by deputies last week, a press release from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Department said.

On July 24, Elbert County EMS and sheriff’s deputies responded to a call on Seymour Road in Bowman, in reference to an accident with injuries.

An investigation found that Wade was driving on Seymour Road, when she lost control of her vehicle.

Her 10-year-old son, Adam Wade, was not properly restrained and was thrown from the vehicle, causing his death, the press release said.

Adam Wade was pronounced dead at the scene by Elbert County Coroner Chuck Almond.

Charges were filed last week after toxicology tests were completed that showed that Teresa Wade was driving under the influence of Schedule III drugs.

She was later released from the Elbert County Detention Center after posting a $30,000 bond.

Teresa Wade is the second mother to be charged in the death of her child in just a few weeks.

Becky Kay Snellgrove, 31, of 99 West Railroad St. in Bowman was charged last month with first degree vehicular homicide after the death of her 5-year-old daughter, Destiny Blaze Evans.

Investigators said that Destiny Evans died after being run over after falling off the hood of Snellgrove’s car.
